Riser Sealing Kit

Application

IPLUG-RSK (Riser Sealing Kit) protects underground risers and cables against damage from rodents and birds, and maintenance personnel from injury by nesting wasps, hornets, and other harmful insects. In addition, IPLUG-RSK provides a durable water seal at the top of the riser. The key IPLUG-RSK technology -- IFOAM -- is a fast-curing, low-toxicity, structural, epoxy foam that is flame resistant and UV-resistant. Each IPLUG-RSK kit seals risers up to six inches in diameter and is fully compatible with all standard cable-jacketing materials.

Method of use

After the riser and cables have been cleaned, a die-cut sponge is wrapped around the cables and pushed into the riser, forming a barrier for the IPLUG-RSK foam. A clear plastic film is then wrapped around the riser and taped into place, forming a disposable IFOAM mold. The two-part IPLUG-RSK foam is hand mixed in its two-part Clip-Pak, and the package opened and contents squeezed into the top of the riser. Once the disposable plastic mold has been closed, the IPLUG-RSK foam expands and cures.

IPLUG-RSK uses a structural, epoxy foam to seal the top of the riser, preventing cable damage or personnel injury from nesting rodents, birds, and harmful insects.

Low toxicity

IPLUG-RSK uses an epoxy foam composed only of low toxicity materials. IPLUG-RSK will not generate toxic gases either during installation or when exposed to flame, and unlike polyurethanes and other foams, no special safety equipment is required for normal IPLUG-RSK installations.

Versatile

Since IPLUG-RSK expands as it foams, each kit works well with all commonly used riser sizes and materials. Only one IPLUG-RSK kit is required for all risers up to six inches in diameter. The die-cut sponge disk, supplied, fits any number, or combination, of cables and cable sizes.

Cable compatible

IPLUG-RSK has been fully tested and approved for suitability, effectiveness, and safety with all standard cable jacketing materials. Under thermal loading conditions IPLUG-RSK expands and contracts preventing damage to
cable insulation.

Easy to use

IPLUG-RSK requires no installation tools. The two-part epoxy foam is mixed by hand, in its package, and squeezed into the mold formed by the clear plastic film. A two color resin/catalyst (charcoal colored resin with florescent orange catalyst) system provides a simple, visual indication of proper IPLUG-RSK mixing.

Removable

IPLUG-RSK is formulated to allow for easy removal to repair or replace cables. IPLUG-RSK can be removed using conventional hand tools.
